Five suggestions to Laszlo

1. Stability

The compiled SWF file often crashed my browser.

2. IDE support

IBM IDE for Eclipse is good, but no enough. The visual component drag/drop in Eclipse is nearly useless, only adding XML tag pair to the editor, nothing more. As a UI driven development technique, an excellent IDE (comparing with Flexbuilder) is very important. User want to drag/drop controls to the canvas, adjust size, moving them, adding sample data...All these actions can be done on the component themselves visually, like VB, not on LZX XML file.

3. Globalization support

I found many posts on internationalization and localization. Globalization is not a option, it's a must. I was surprised that there are so many Chinese developers (me too) here.

4. Roadmap

My own opinion is not target Laszlo to .NET and Java. .NET developer will certainly use XAML (with powerful platform and tooling support on .NET platform); while Java have complex situations. In fact, people turns to Flash because Java rich client seem doesn't work for them. Eclipse RCP is another alternative, but it doesn't work on browser. Keeping the focus on Flash in near future may be the right way.
