Inputtext on iOS

I will just stride in here and answer my own question, before it wastes anyone's time.

After a bit of thinking about the problem, and some investigation, I found that the shadow occurs on all input text boxes on iOS safari by default. It is nothing to do with OpenLaszlo at all.

To turn it off apparently this css style needs to be applied
-webkit-appearance: none;
