How to use animated stroke style for a pen tool

Hi all ,

I am developing a free hand drawing module for an application. One of the requirements for the tool is to support animated fill style ( glittery fill ) for the pen stroke.


To help you get a better understanding of what I am trying to do , I created an example using a third party flash widget . The links are given below

My Issue:
I would love any pointers on how I can develop a pen tool where the stroke fill uses animated effects like glitter.

My only though is that the "glitter" may be a created by a hole (uncolored area) in the drawview which allows the view to see what is below (the glitter).
