Trimming data

I have a text tag with align="center". If I hardcode the text, i.e., <text align="center">Foo</text> then it aligns within the view just fine, but if I get the data from a dataset, in this case just XML defined inside the LZX file, the text is padded with a bunch of spaces and therefore does not get centered correctly. Is there a way to trim this text? I've tried all sorts of methods with no success.

With dynamically set text, text fields do not resize automatically. Use resize="true" to have it resize.
