None of these samle apps have been coming up all day. Is the mylaszlo server down?

Thanks!

It seems to work now. Was the box rebooted or something?

Thanks for posting this - I believe that mylaszlo.com did go down for a short while this weekend.

Apparently it isn't maintained anymore -- I think the domain expired or something.

It's a shame as it's a good idea, a community portal to show off your work and share code.

Oh well, another minus for Laszlo.

Hehe, I have a fond love/hate relationship with Laszlo. Please ignore my ocassional rants.

"Love/hate" ... indeed. Given the nature of OS projects I think it would be naive for them to be anything other than painfully chaotic. I'm sure a participant is likely to encounter frustration to the point of despair unless that person truly feels rewarded by seeing the project progress and really has a sense of the big picture.

Remembering Moz 0.98 what comes to mind is how painful it is when we encounter a big regression.

"Let each man do what he can!" (trying to evoke the spirit of Nelson.) And on that note: who is known to babysit mylaszlo?

Be that as it may ... there's very little pain involved in posting a situation report here.

Is mylaszlo dead on purpose or by default?

Mebbe we should take up a collection and revive it ... install an upgraded version of "Edit (http://www.laszlosystems.com/lps-3.0/laszlo-explorer/editor.jsp?src=docs/design/programs/views-tutorial-$3.lzx)" and initiate some eXtreme Collaboration.

p.s. check out XMetal's demos (http://www.xmetal.com/en_us/product_information/demonstration/index.x) ... a well motivated bunch could do that with OL, no? SAS, right?

I was wondering is there enough community support to restart the MyLaszlo site? If so I don't think I could get the domain but I would not mind getting a new domain and hosting everything if this is something that is of interest to people.

Definitely a good idea. I think a lot of cool demos/tools/code snipets never see the light of day and it would help to have somewhere to show them/the code behind them. I could probably help out with some payment for hosting

No need to pay, I have a fiber connection going to my Hosting location. However some help developing the portal would be nice. I know when I first started it was great, then I got really busy with some other work and didn't have a chance to touch laszlo for a while. However I would like to get back into it and for me that is making a whole munch of stuff that might not be of use to me but would probably be useful for others. Do you think we should build the website completely in laszlo?

Ok, I'm not actually a developer so I wont be much good at it, but 2 of my developers are working on a Laszlo app at the moment, so they're kind of busy working on that. But I don't mind helping out with developing the portal in some way that I can be useful. Developing it in Laszlo is probably a good idea to showcase it, maybe Laszlosystems could donate their Webtop product if it was useful for this project.

Ok lets start here then, what sort of things should the portal do?
My idea is to have the protal allow users to register. Only registered users can upload projects. In addition to uploading projects they can add descriptions to the projects. What else do you think the portal should contain?

A noble offer ... and I really don't know. The OL blog I've been watching has been mostly silent.

FWIW I'm looking at moving to Java and using Phobo.
*sigh*

Looking at the old MyLaszlo site on the waybackmachine http://web.archive.org/web/20060210140811/http://www.mylaszlo.com/

Screenshot, ability to view source code, app of the day, browse, (search would be nice), category?

I guess that's keeping it simple to begin with

I've actually got an inhouse graphic designer who also codes, and I like to keep him busy on a variety of projects so I'll get him started on a design. It might be easier and faster if we use an existing system to get it working though. We use drupal quite a bit and it's got lots of plugins which we maybe able to use to get something working. It would mean that the site is not in OpenLaszlo though.

Well to get it up quickly I can develop it ASP.Net 2.0

ok, sounds fine to me. I'll get on to a design and post a mockup for comments back here when it's done. I guess that's a start

WayBack very kindly preserved the complete list of apps (http://web.archive.org/web/20050215150752/mylaszlo.com/browse.php?page=11&order=date) along with some screenshots, as well as as various Sorts (http://web.archive.org/web/20041206163701/www.mylaszlo.com/browse.php?order=user) ... but no sources.

(It would be nice if there was a good demo of JavaScript deployment.)

Awesome, awesome site.

When we get to a point where our app is out and I have some moments to breath I'll contribute to this.

Very nice work.
